Immigrant Buddies - Privacy Policy

Immigrant Buddies ("Immigrant Buddies," "we," "us," "our"), a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, created this Privacy Policy ("Privacy Policy") to describe how we handle personal information when you use our website, mobile app, services, or otherwise interact with us, including at in-person events and activities (collectively, our "Services"). We encourage you to read this Privacy Policy before using our Services or submitting information to us. I. Categories of Personal Information We Collect

We may collect the following categories of personal information:

  • Contact information, including first and last name, email address, phone number.
  • Personal identifiers, including photos, signature, language, or other preferences and inputs (such as areas of support requested).

  • Employment information, such as occupation, education, professional qualifications, references, and work history.
  • Location information, such as city/state and/or zip code.
  • Communications, such as messages, emails, and correspondences.

In addition to the above categories, you may choose to provide us with additional personal information, such as when you attend an event, contact or communicate with us, fill in a form or survey, submit an application for employment, or otherwise choose to make additional information available on the Services. The specific personal information that we may collect depends on your use of the Services and interactions with us.

This Privacy Policy does not apply to any public information that you choose to provide or make available.

  • To develop, analyze, and improve the Services, including troubleshooting, understanding how the Services are used and developing and personalizing new offerings and initiatives.

  • For security and safety, including verifying applications and credentials, providing a secure experience, and detecting, investigating, and preventing malicious conduct.
  • To comply with legal obligations, and as permitted by law, including to protect our rights, to comply with our obligations under applicable law, respond to a valid judicial warrant or court order, investigate legal proceedings, and to enforce or investigate potential or actual violations of our terms or policies.

Immigrant Buddies is not responsible for the privacy or security practices of any third parties or websites we do not own or control.

We retain your personal information as long as reasonably necessary to provide Services and comply with any applicable legal obligations. To determine the appropriate retention period for personal information we consider the amount, nature, and sensitivity of the personal information, along with:

  • The time necessary to fulfill the purposes for which we collected the information;
  • The duration and status of your connection with us;
  • The retention period required for our compliance with legal, regulatory, or government requirements; and
  • Our internal obligations, contractual commitments and other requirements.

VII. Children

Our Services are generally intended for people 18 years and older, and are not directed to children. We do not sell or share the personal information of children. VIII. Visitors from Outside the United States

We operate in the United States, and personal information collected pursuant to this Privacy Policy may be accessed from and/or stored by us, or those acting on our behalf. If you use our Services from outside the United States, you acknowledge that your personal information may be transferred to or accessed from other countries, including the United States, and consent to such transfer or access. Subject to certain exceptions and depending on your jurisdiction, you may have certain rights, such as the right to:

We will not restrict or deny you access to our Services because of choices and requests you make in connection with your personal information.

Please note that we may ask you to provide information to verify your identity before we process your request. If we deny your request, you may submit an appeal by contacting us via email.

To opt-out of certain marketing communications, you may click on the "unsubscribe" link or opt-out contained at the bottom of any marketing email we send you. If you receive SMS/text messages from us and do not wish to receive future text messages, text STOP in response to any text message received.

XI. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to account for changes in how we collect and process your personal information. For material updates, we will provide notice or obtain consent as required by law.
